He said the reception he received from the quarter down to the hall where over 2,000 corp members maintained discipline is a testament to the reports given by the NYSC State Coordinator, Mr. Hassan Mahmud Taura that the present set of corps members have proven to be one of the best the camp ever had.
He encouraged them to maintain such discipline in their Place of Primary Assignment (PPA), so as to prove their gentlemanly nature to society.
Also, the D.G. donated four cows and ordered a day free for the corp members to celebrate their record of discipline.
I his words: “I would have loved to remain here as your Father and celebrate with you, but because of other pressing issues, I have to leave.
“But I have ordered a day of free break for you all so that you can celebrate and remember the day your daddy visited you.”
The DG, however, warned corp members to avoid traveling without permission from appropriate authorities and avoid night journeys.
He urged them to be security conscious at all times and avoid youthful adventures that can put them in harm’s way.
Furthermore, he congratulated the them on their academic accomplishments and successful enrollment in the NYSC programme.
He underscored the important role of the Orientation Camp in instilling a sense of patriotism and urged Corps Members to actively contribute to national development, while encouraging them to embrace the regimented camp life, which prepares them for future leadership roles.
He cautioned against sharing offensive camp activities on social media stressing its potential to misrepresent the NYSC, while stressing the importance of focusing on their primary assignments upon deployment.
He equally encouraged them to accept their Place of Primary Assignment without requesting relocation and also inspired the Members to identify their goals and take advantage of the lectures and SAED (Skills Acquisition and Entrepreneurship Development) training, to become financially independent.
Warning against late-night movements, he reiterated the NYSC Scheme’s dedication to the safety of all corp members and emphasized the need for cleanliness, especially during the cholera pandemic.
“You must attend all the lectures in camp. Maintain good relationships among yourselves and add value to your host communities and place of primary assignments by executing good projects,” Ahmed said.
