Tinubu’s visit to Xi great leap in China, Nigeria relations – Yu Dunhai

The Ambassador of People’s Republic of China to Nigeria, Mr. Yu Dunhai has described President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Chinese President, Xi Jinping as a great impetus in China, Nigeria relations.

Mr. Yu Dunhai who said that continued reform remains the greatest secret to China’s development made this known Thursday in Abuja during a seminar on “Taking New Opportunities for China Nigeria Cooperation in Deepening Reforms in the New Era”.

He said apart from Reforms embarked by different leaderships, opening up of the economy, High quality development and Modernization led China to development.

Continuing, Yu noted that reform was a must for every nation that desires development as it enhances development potentials.

He stated that opening up of the economy was essential to China’s advancement as China will always shuns protectionism to favour free trade, maintaining that nations must trade together to encourage development.

Yu said that High Quality Development was needed for any nation to make progress expressing the need for a departure from the past and embracement of new technology for overall advancement of a nation.

Speaking on Modernization, Yu said modernization comes with development stating that China has not engaged in any war making it possible for it to develop and advance beyond measures.

He said that development was a yardstick to resolve all issues maintaining that it enabled China to end extreme poverty.

Also speaking, Prof. Sheriff Ghali Ibrahim of Department of Political Science, University of Abuja said that experience sharing and historical injustice greatly helped China’s growth.

President of China Alumni Association, Mr. Muhammad Sulaiman pointed out the need for Nigeria to embrace its culture like China by getting a development model suitable to its culture.

Prof. Bibi Faruq of University of Abuja said that both countries can foster more people-to-people exchanges to promote cultural understanding and venture into deep cultural cooperation.

Faruq stressed the possibility of establishing Language Schools and Sister City Programs to achieve desired goals.

Representative of Director of FCT Secondary Education Board (SEB), Mr. Yakubu Ibrahim who said the event was a great chapter in China, Nigeria international relations stated that we need to bring great understanding through culture.
