By Abubakar Yunusa

As Nigeria marks its 64th Independence anniversary, the Allied Conservative Congress (ACC) has called on the Federal Government to urgently address the nation’s economic challenges and tackle insecurity.

In a statement released by the ACC’s National Chairman, Rev. Olusegun Peters, on Monday, the party highlighted the current hardships facing the country, stressing the need for immediate and decisive action to restore stability and growth.

Rev. Peters acknowledged the country’s perseverance despite enduring political instability, economic stagnation, and socio-religious tensions, attributing Nigeria’s continued unity to divine grace.

However, he emphasized that the nation must now turn its attention to rebuilding its economy and reinforcing security across all regions.

“There is hardship and hunger in the land, compounded by insecurity,” Peters said, urging the government to take governance seriously and revive the economy.

He also criticized the lack of accountability from elected officials, stating that Nigerians are “fed up with excuses” from public officers who fail to deliver on their promises.

Peters called for a renewed commitment to democratic ideals, urging Nigerians to hold their leaders accountable, as seen in more advanced democracies.

The ACC leader expressed optimism about Nigeria’s future, noting that the nation is rich in both human and natural resources, and that a collective effort is needed to overcome the challenges.

He also called on patriotic Nigerians to actively participate in the quest for a better and greater Nigeria, stressing that conservative ideology could be the key to solving the country’s economic, political, and security issues.

“Nigeria shall be great again, with God on our side,” Peters concluded, as he reiterated the ACC’s commitment to championing good governance and genuine democracy.”
