Ethnic youth groups, namely Yoruba Youths Council (YYC) and Ohanaeze Ndigbo Youth Council Worldwide, have hailed the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, for subduing banditry activities in the north in particular and Nigeria in Nigeria.
The groups, in separate statements issued by Comrade Eric Oluwole, the President of the YYC, and Mazi Okwu Nnabuike, the National President of Ohanaeze youths, articulated the enthusiastic endorsement of Matawalle as Defence Minister following his impressive performance.
According to their statements, the recent feat by the Military had reignited hope in the hearts of Nigerians.
They noted that the successes recorded through the recent intensive onslaught by the military on bandits, especially in the Northwest, were coordinated by the minister.
The groups appreciated Matawalle for not disappointing the confidence reposed in him by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
“Matawalle has also proved himself as one of the best Ministers serving in the cabinet of President Tinubu based on our assessment. We congratulate him for these.”
“We appreciate Mr President, a notable talent hunter, for finding Matawalle, picking him, and reposing confidence in him as one of his most intimate helpers in running the highly sensitive Ministry of Defence.”
According to the groups, the recent relocation of Matawalle with Service Chiefs to Sokoto State, a banditry hotspot, in a special operation directed by President Tinubu to flush out bandits and other criminal elements from the North-West, is yielding commendable results.
They noted that banditry and other criminalities had reduced drastically in the zone since September 3, when the minister asked for the support of the government and people of Sokoto State in executing the presidential directive on insecurity.
