The Head of Civil Service of the Federation, (HoS), Ms. Didi Walson-Jack has said Federal Government (FG) is moving towards digitalizing public service adding that digitalization is one of the pillars of reforms under the federal civil service strategy and implementation plan 2021 to 2025.
The HoS stated this on Wednesday in Abuja during a supervisory visit to different centres of Compulsory Confirmation Promotion Examination (COMPRO) for senior cadre of public servants.
She said going round the centres, she noticed a very good number of senior officers writing the exam with a few technical hitches base on technology, but those hitches have been resolved. “I am happy that the exam is going on well” she added.
She also said her office is coming up with a lot of training on Information Communication Technology (ICT) which is believed will help the workers as the service go along the CBT test.
She said “under the federal civil service strategy and implementation 2021 to 2025, digitalization is one of the pillars of reforms, so we are coming up with a lot of training on Information Communication Technology (ICT) which we believe will help the workers as we go along the Computer Base Test (CBT).
“You will recall that this exam use to be a written exam but recently we made it computer based and so it is expected that as we go along, it will encourage public servants to begin to take IT and digitalization very seriously because the test is computer based and they need to be IT savvy to pass the test.
“The examination is nationwide and we have about thirteen thousand candidates writing the exam nationwide, in Abuja alone we have about two thousand candidates”.
Also speaking, permanent secretary career services of the office of the HoS Mrs. Fatimah Mahmod said though there were technical hitches but the process was well managed adding that the candidates were attended to promptly and every one of them is behaving in an orderly manner as expected of the public service officers of the nation.
She further said that the CBT attracts a registration fee of #7,000.00 (seven thousand naira) for senior cadre officers while the junior cadre attracts a fee of #5, 000.00 (five thousand naira).
