The Benue State University, BSU has granted pardon to over 103 students involved in examination malpractices.
The Vice Chancellor Prof. Joseph Tor Iorapuu said the 315th special Senate of the Benue State University, Makurdi, extended an act of clemency to students who were previously involved in cases of examination misconduct.
According to him,’the Senate of the University, known for its firm stance on academic integrity, has decided to offer this pardon as part of a broader initiative aimed at reforming the nature of punishment to students involved in examination misconduct, intimating that the pardon which covers cases in the second semester, 2020/2021 and first semester, 2022/2023 was not extended to students who were involved in violent conduct or physical assault, cult activities, theft and rape.
“After exhaustive deliberations on the report of the Examinations Regulations and Irregularities Committee, they evoked the sections 20 and 21 of the University’s Law to take the decision.
“The University’s Senate resolved that granting clemency to the affected students is an opportunity for them to correct past mistakes and continue their academic journey with renewed commitment to honesty and hard work.”
