The Special Adviser to the President on Senate Matters, Senator Basheer Mohammed Lado, has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu over his nomination of Prof. Abdullahi Saleh Usman as the new Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the National Hajj Commission of Nigeria (NAHCON).
The Presidential aide who made this known in a statement yesterday also described as described as critical the screening by the Senate of the nominee yesterday.
He said fhs emergence of Prof Usman marked a critical step towards alleviating the challenges faced by pilgrims.
He said the development would ensure that NAHCON continues to fulfill its mandate of coordinating smooth and seamless Hajj operations.
According to him: “ By nominating Prof. Saleh Usman, an experienced scholar and administrator, the President has demonstrated his dedication to reducing the hardships often encountered by Nigerian pilgrims during Hajj operations and ensuring that their religious rites are performed with ease and dignity.”
He expressed his confidence that the nomination of Prof Usman would be of benefit to both Nigerian pilgrims and the nation in general.
“This also underscores President Tinubu’s vision for a more efficient system that prioritizes the welfare of the people.”
Commenting on the screening yesterday, Sen. Lado commended Committee on Foreign Affairs for its thorough and diligent screening process “which exemplifies the strong and productive collaboration between the Executive and the Legislature.
“This synergy ensures that key appointments, such as this one, are subjected to the highest levels of scrutiny and accountability, leading to decisions that serve the best interests of the nation.
“While we anticipate his confirmation by the Senate following the committee’s report, I look forward to witnessing the positive impact of Professor Abdullahi Saleh Usman’s leadership on NAHCON and the advancement of Nigeria’s Hajj operations.”
