Gombe govt pays N937m as outstanding arears to university

Gombe state government said it has paid N937 million naira to settle the outstanding arears claimed by the academic staff union of Gombe state university.
Briefing Journalists on Thursday at the Deputy Governor of Gombe state, Mr. Manassah Daniel Jatau explained that the lingering strike by ASSU triggered government to institute a committee to delibrate inorder to find a lasting solution.
He said after meeting with the union leaders of the university, resolution were made by the union leaders and government to addressed such issues.
According to him, government in its decision approved the payment of all outstanding arears to the university.
He said with this gesture, there is need to reopen the university to enable students carryout their legitimate functions.
