Gov. Zulum okays appointment of NUJ chair, Dauda Iliya as Spokesperson

The Borno State Governor, Prof. Babagana Umara Zulum has approved the appointment of Alh. Dauda Iliya as his official Spokesperson and Special Adviser on Media.
The appointment follows the demise of Mallam Isa Gusau who until his death in February 2024 served as the spokesperson for Governor Zulum.
The Governor’s approval was released in a statement on Friday by his SSA on New Media, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi.
Iliya is currently the Chairman of the Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ), Borno State Chapter. He hails from Kwaya-Kusar Local Government Area in southern part of Borno State.
He holds a bachelor’s degree in English Linguistics from the University of Maiduguri and later obtained his master’s in Mass Communications from the same University in 2024. He has attended numerous professional courses and trainings.
He is a member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Union of Journalists and the Society of Nigerian Broadcasters.
Until his appointment, Iliya worked as a reporter for federal radio corporations covering Borno State.
The statement added that Gov. Zulum conveys his congratulations to the appointee and urges him to utilise his wealth of experience in service to Borno State.
