Malnutrition: Kaduna Committee on food, nutrition moves to tackle menace

The Chairman of the Kaduna State Committee on Food and Nutrition, Bashir Muhammad (mni), has said stakeholders and MDAs of the Committee are set to come up with innovations to tackle the menace of malnutrition and ensure the good people of Kaduna live a healthier life.
Mallam Bashir Muhammad stated this yesterday during a two-day Quarterly Coordination and Review Meeting of the Committee.
According to him, stakeholders and MDAs in food and nutrition were brought together to contribute their quota in improving the nutrition status of women and children by ensuring that they have access to the right information and interventions that will improve their well-being.
He added that this quarterly meeting is a crucial component of the ongoing effort to evaluate progress, address challenges, and harness opportunities that will help them achieve their goals goal.
The Chairman, who doubles as the Permanent Secretary of the Planning and Budget Commission, emphasized that the essence of the committee was to meet on a quarterly basis with all the stakeholders in Kaduna state to discuss the menace of malnutrition in the state.
He explained that when the stakeholders meet, they make presentations on the status of the implementation of the measures for combating nutrition issues in the state.
Muhammad mentioned the issues surrounding malnutrition in the state including anemia, stunting, and wasting, among others
The Chairman explained that when the stakeholders make their presentations, the committee would look into the success stories of achieving targets for reducing malnutrition in the state and then discover the challenges.
He said the challenges may sometimes be funding and other things that were discussed in the meeting during which some of the NGOs or partners support addressing the challenges.
