The beneficiaries of Nigeria COVID-19 Action, Recovery and Economic Stimulus (NG-CARES) program in Jigawa state, expressed satisfaction with new selection process adopted in the state.
The adoption of the Jigawa poverty and vulnerability community ranking system, coupled with a simple random selection technique, by the J-CARES Results Area II(FADAMA CARES) Beneficiaries Targeting Selection Committee, has ensured that support reaches those most in need.
However, the communities across Jigawa have embraced this innovative approach, recognizing its effectiveness in targeting the most vulnerable communities and households.
“By utilizing a community-driven ranking system, local knowledge and insights are leveraged to accurately identify households facing the greatest economic challenges. This not only ensures fairness and transparency but also fosters a sense of ownership and accountability within the communities themselves.
“Furthermore, the incorporation of a simple random selection technique adds an additional layer of impartiality to the process. By introducing an element of chance, the selection committee ensures that all eligible households have an equal opportunity to benefit from the program, regardless of their specific circumstances.
However, the feedback from beneficiaries shows the success of this new approach. Families previously overlooked by traditional selection methods now have access to much-needed support, empowering them to improve their livelihoods and break free from the cycle of poverty.
