Governor Uba Sani has issued a stern rebuke to conflict entrepreneurs accused of manipulating children to fuel unrest in Kaduna State.
This comes as the governor personally received detained children and youth who were recently freed unconditionally by the Federal Government following President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s intervention.
The children, who had faced treason charges linked to their involvement in the August 2024 protests, were formally handed over to the Kaduna State Government by Vice President Kashim Shettima today.
Governor Sani revealed that many of these young individuals had been exploited by groups intent on creating major unrest within the state and Nigeria as a whole.
“These children were drawn into activities they did not fully understand, misled by those who thrive on chaos,” he remarked after the handover.
In a show of support, Governor Sani assured the youth that they would receive psychosocial counseling to aid their recovery. Students will be supported in returning to school, while others with employable skills will be equipped with tools and resources to help them start afresh.
The Kaduna State Government, he said, also plans to engage with the parents and guardians of these children to ensure a comprehensive rehabilitation that serves their best interests.
In his statement, filled with gratitude, Governor Sani commended President Tinubu and Vice President Shettima for their pivotal roles in securing the children’s freedom and thanked well-meaning Nigerians for rallying behind the cause.
The administration, he emphasized, remains committed to guiding these youths toward productive futures, free from the influence of those who exploit them for personal or political gain.
