Nasarawa Assembly receives, adopts report on 2024 supplementary budget

Nasarawa State House of Assembly, has received the report of the House Standing Committee on Finance and Appropriation on a Bill for a Law to Issue Out of the Consolidated Revenue Fund of the State of N156.687, 479,388.94 only (Supplementary/ Amended Appropriation Bill, 2024) for the Services of Nasarawa State Government.
The House also adopted the report and slated tomorrow Wednesday for the passage of the bill.
Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, the Speaker of the House received the report of the committee after it was presented by the Chairman Hon. Hudu A Hudu during the House proceedings today in Lafia.
The Speaker slated today, Wednesday, Nov.13, 2024 for the third reading of the bill.
Speaker Jatau said that the supplementary appropriation bill would enable the state government to complete ongoing projects across the state as well as provide the much needed dividends of democracy to the people of the state.
On his part, Hon Hudu A Hudu (APC-Awe North) the Chairman, House Committee on Finance and Appropriation while presenting the committee’s report said that the earlier total budget size for the year 2024 was N199, 879,370,709.43.
“ But as at September, the sum of N133,006,782,144.65 was realized representing 67 % of the total expected revenue.
“These have shown a significant performance, in the year under review” he said.
Hon. Hudu said that the committee observed that the executive has achieved a lot in terms of revenue generation in the year under review.
“The total size of the recurrent expenditure after adjustment stands at N150,310, 075,773.14, whereas, the total size of the capital expenditure will be N206, 256,774,325.22
“Accordingly, the total size of the budget for the year 2024 after adjustment is N356,566,850,098.36” he said.
He appreciated the Speaker and the entire House for the opportunity to serve and commended members of the committee for their commitment to ensure good report.
Earlier, Hon. Suleiman Yakubu Azara, the Majority Leader of the House, moved a motion for the adoption of the committee’s report which was seconded by the Minority Leader of the House, Hon. Luka Iliya Zhekaba.
The House unanimously adopted the committee’s report.
It would be recalled that in Dec.2023, the House approved N199.8 billion budget the for 2024 fiscal year.
The supplementary appropriation bill if approved, would take the Nasarawa State Government 2024 budget to N356.5 billion.
