Insecurity: Niger govt suspends Islamic Cleric over misconduct

In an efforts to curb insecurity especially Boko Haram, banditry, Lukarawa and religious bigotry, the Niger state government has suspended an Islamic cleric Mohammed Bin Mohammed from preaching in Suleja local government area of the state.
The Director General, Niger State Religious Affairs, Malam Abdullahi Umar Faruk made this known in a phone chat, saying that the suspended Suleja based cleric violated the teachings and guiding principles of Islamic preaching in the state.
The Director General added that his Islamiya School Umi na Habiba, Kaduna road Suleja has also been closed down while plan is ongoing for his prosecution to serve as deterrent to others.
Malam Umar Faruk emphasized that going by his preaching, it was clear he is allegedly a Boko Haram member which can not be condone in a peaceful society.
The religious leader reiterated the commitment of the body in ensuring peace, stability, tolerance and harmony in Niger state.
The DG informed that the affected cleric was invited where he admitted to the violations of the guiding rules and regulations before his suspension last week.
Reacting, the suspended Islamic cleric Mohammed Bin Mohammed disclosed that he is not a member of Boko Haram, saying he also had western education.
