Breaking: Why I Empower Women and Support Our Military – Uba Sani

Kaduna State Governor Uba Sani has outlined his administration’s dual commitment to empowering women farmers and supporting military heroes, emphasizing their critical roles in building a secure and prosperous society.

Speaking at the Nigerian Women Conference in Kaduna, Governor Sani highlighted the centrality of women in smallholder farming and the agricultural sector. He noted the success of his administration’s “Sustainable Livelihoods Through Social Interventions and Economic Empowerment” initiative, particularly the “Get Back to Farm” (A Koma Gona) program.

“We are breathing new life into our agricultural sector by empowering women who form the backbone of smallholder farming,” Sani said. The programme has provided high-quality seeds, fertilizers, agrochemicals, and farming equipment to 41,693 smallholder farmers and cooperatives across Kaduna’s 23 local government areas.

Earlier, the governor launched the 2024 Armed Forces Remembrance Day Emblem with a personal donation of N10 million, reaffirming his administration’s unwavering support for the military.

At the emblem launch held at Arewa House, Sani declared, “There is no sacrifice greater than putting one’s life on the line for one’s nation.”

He urged individuals and organizations to contribute generously to the Appeal Fund.

Governor Sani further detailed his government’s comprehensive approach to tackling insecurity in Kaduna State. This, he said, includes strategic partnerships with federal security forces, the establishment of a private-sector-driven Kaduna State Security Trust Fund, and social intervention programmes aimed at reducing poverty, unemployment, and youth radicalization.

Stakeholders believe that through these targeted initiatives, Governor Uba Sani is not only empowering the most vulnerable but also strengthening the security framework, showcasing his holistic approach to governance and development in Kaduna State.
