From Yakubu Mustapha Minna
The Speaker of the Niger State House of Assembly, Barrister Abdulmalik Sarkin-Daji has insisted that the bandits are currently occupying the largest military training ground in Kontagora local government area of Niger state.
But the military blatantly debunked the allegations few weeks ago when it was first raised by a member of the Niger State Assembly.
He made the disclosure during his condolence visit to Wamba community in Mariga local government area of the state, where five vigilantes and three farmers were killed by bandits last week.
Barrister Sarkin-Daji called on the National Assembly members and other critical stakeholders meeting in Kontagora to discuss on the way out of the unabated occupation of the military training camps by the criminals.
He lamented that they are using the training grounds to attack surrounding communities
The Speaker presented 10 million naira donation from governor Mohammed Umar Bago to the five families of the late vigilantes and he personally donated five Bajaj motorcycles to the vigilantes group of the community.
It would be recalled that last week, armed bandits attacked Wamba community in Mariga local government area of Niger state, killing eight persons including five vigilantes and three farmers.
