Barrister Pelumi bags Prominent peoples Award

An Abuja based legal practitioner, Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi was on Tuesday, honored with the Prominent People’s award by the Cornerstone Media.

Presenting the award to the Osun state born lawyer, the Executive Director of the Cornerstone Media, Mr. Ajibola Afolayan said, the award was in recognition of Mr. Olajengbesi’s contribution to the development of the legal profession in Nigeria.

Afolayan described Olajengbesi, who is the Principal partner of the Law Corridor as a great lawyer of repute, known for his activism in the practice of law in the country.

The Cornerstone Media boss stressed the importance of celebrating people who are doing well in their profession, this, he said will spur them to do more in the over all interest of the country.

He said, Olajengbesi was honoured with the award in recognition of his activism in the sector of law, even as he noted that, the selection passed through rigorous process by a jury, which made the selection out of the very many people nominated for the award.

Afolayan said, “After people are nominated, we have a jury who look at their credentials to know if they are deserving of the award or not. If they are not deserving, they will not make our list.

“Anybody who made the list for the award, knows that he or she deserved the award. The essence of the award is to bring out the best from people who are doing well in the profession”, he added.

Responding, Mr. Pelumi Olajengbesi, who is the current Convener of the Coalition of Public Interests Lawyers and Advocates (COPA) in Nigeria said, the award is a call to action to the demand and contribution to the legal profession.

He called on lawyers to always be careful with their sense of direction and to have the interest of justice at their hearts.

“As lawyers, we need to serve the interest of justice in the defense of our clients”, Olajengbesi said and thanked the Cornerstone Media for honouring him with Prominent People’s award.
