Foundation advocates inclusivity, support for children with special needs

Queen’s Dream Foundation has advocated for the inclusivity and support for children with special needs by creating safe spaces them in the society.
Elizabeth Ogundairo, a 17-year Old Founder, Queen’s Dream Foundation, disclosed this at an event to honour the remarkable achievement of children with special needs at the Kuje School of the Deaf.
Ogundairo, represented by her mother, Sade Ogundairo, said caring for children with special needs should be part of efforts by all to give them a comfortable life not minding their challenges.
“To care for people with special needs, ‘ right from birth’, I knew is a very beautiful aspect of humanity at its very best.
“This care takes love, compassion, and an appreciation of the inherent dignity in every human individual.
“When we’re able to turn our hearts towards them, we will be able to establish a society in which differences are appreciated rather than abhorred.
“For us at Queen’s Dream Foundation, we appreciate that Love means more than advocating for people With special needs. For Queen’s Dream Foundation, It means advocating for their rights.
“We must create spaces where they can fit in, and treat them with respect and kindness in every moment,’’ she said.
She explained that the 2024 outreach was expanded to reach not only children with special needs but also widows by providing them with clothes, foods and other resources.
A JSS 3 student of the Abuja School of the Deaf, Rilwan Adebayo, commended the programme for the promotion of inclusivity it has noting that he was happy to comprehend and communicate through sign language.
He called on government to provide more sign language teachers to assist them in their education.
Another student, Ummy Isham, appealed to the organiser to make it an annual programmes saying this would go a long way in shaping the lives of the students in the school.
The event featured a medical outreach to check the health status of the beneficiary widows.
Dr Temitope Akinyele, who ran a routine check on the widows identified that a lot of women, especially the elderly were living with prevalent high blood pressure.
Akinyele advised the elderly on appropriate and regular check ups while also placing them on anti hypertensive medications. Sent from my iPhone
