Following the quit notice issued to the leadership of Bukuru cattle market by the Plateau state government, the authority of the market yesterday dragged the State Government and three others to State High Court 7, in Jos, over the proposed plan by the government to demolish the market.
It would be recalled that, in the midnight of Tuesday, the state government has demolished over 1000 shops and houses in Bukur town of Jos South LGA of the state which generated tense tension in the area.
The case was however filed by the chairman of Bukuru cattle market, Bala Muhammad and three others, seeking the court to give an injunction preventing the state government from the proposed plan to demolish the market.
During the hearing of the case, Nanle Komak, who is the lawyer to the plaintiff, told the court that he was served with the preliminary objection from the defendants yesterday morning and requested the court for time to thoroughly read the preliminary objection given by his clients for him to respond.
In his ruling, the presiding judge, Justice Daniel Longe adjourned to July 25 for hearing of the motion of preliminary objection.
The state government had, through Jos-South LGA, issued to the Bukuru cattle market a quit notice to relocate from its present place to Gero road, which the traders rejected, emphasising that the new proposed area was not safe.
