Disturbed by the manner at which its presidential and governorship candidates usually dump the party after failing to realize their ambitions, the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has declared that it would no longer serve as special purpose vehicle (SPV) for aspiring candidates.
The National Chairman of the party, Chief Ralph Okey Nwosu, made the
declaration on Monday while speaking during the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, in Abuja.
Chief Okey Nwosu equally disclosed that ADC has lifted the embargos placed on some of its members found guilty of one offense or the other.
The ADC National Chairman noted that since 2007, the party had fielded candidates for the presidential election, but none of the candidates had remained to contribute to its growth.
He decried what he called lack of political ideology by most Nigerian politicians.
According to the ADC chairman, the party’s NEC meeting heralded a new beginning, especially, at a period of Christmas which is a time to show love to one another, adding that the country needed to start evolving institutions that can stand the test of time.
He commended the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for initiating the Alternative Disputes Resolution that resolved the wranglings within the party, stressing that they would commence the process of building a virile party now that peace has returned.
He added that no matter the culture or religion of any member, love and peace would become their mandate in the new dispensation.
His words,, “After 20 years, we must get it right. If I offended you, this is the time to forgive and we must make progress. “We must forge big alliances like the one we are forging with PRP. I want us to come with the heart of love. By 2025, our party will become the number one party in Nigeria”, he confidently said.
He added, “By the time we become number one party, some of us will end up working in the Villa, some of you will be elected into offices. When we do this, the sky will be your limit.
“Why do we elect few members in the elective positions? Why can’t we have the majority in the house?
