Only a few days after Super Eagles forward, Ademola Lookman emerged as the African footballer of the year, a foremost football academy, Geezers Football Academy has honoured Italian based player with the African Role Model Award.
The academy also with its determination and unwavering commitment to nurturing young talents, empowering communities and using football as an instrument for development and growth has concluded plans to, with the sole aim to discover more hidden talents.
Speaking at a press conference at the weekend in Abuja, the Director Media and Publicity of Geezers Football Academy Pelumi Olajengbesi revealed that the organization’s desire is to foster unity and elevate African football to new heights.
According to him, the goal is to provide opportunity for football players, hence the decision to go to secondary and primary schools to assist those talents who otherwise may not have had the opportunity to be seen.
He said: “Today, we come together to reflect on our achievements, celebrate milestones, share our achievements and share our ambitious vision for the future of youth development through football.
“At Geezers Football Academy, we are guided by a clear mission: to encourage young talents and harness the power of football as a transformative tool for community and social development. Over the years, we have remained committed to initiatives that inspire aspiring players, instill lifelong values, and contribute to building a more inclusive and vibrant society through sports.”
He further expressed that the reason, Ademola Lukman was chosen as a Role Model was hinged on the need to make use of his achievements as source of inspiration to the millions of talented young people across Nigeria.
Also speaking, Director Project and Programme Development of Geezers Sport Limited, Adedayo Adeniyi said the main goal of the organization is to create sustainable opportunities for talented young footballers in the country.
“As we look forward to 2025, we are thrilled to unveil several key programmes that aim to expand our reach and deepen our impact,” Adeniyi said.
The league is expected to commence with a pilot project in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) by the first quarter of 2025.
