The Association of Civil Society Organizations, Malaria Control, Immunizations  and nutrition (ACOMIN), has sought government collaboration to end HIV/AIDS in Taraba State.

Alhaji Tanko Danburam, Taraba State ACOMIN Chairman, made the call during an advocacy visit to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation on Monday.

He noted that reports from Community-Based Organizations (CBOs) working in nine local government areas of the state revealed a lack of HIV/AIDS testing strips, in health facilities.

According to him, “The field staff are mandated to identify gaps in testing and linking children, adolescents, pregnant women, and lactating mothers to HIV services.”

Danburam emphasized the need for state government intervention to address the challenges facing HIV/AIDS service delivery in the state.

Responding, Mrs. Blessing Bernard, State Programme Coordinator of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation, urged citizens to be resilient in ensuring quality service delivery.

She noted that Nigeria is committed to closing pediatric HIV gaps and achieving Prevention of Mother-To-Child Transmission (PMTCT) by 2030.

Bernard explained that donors alone cannot meet the demand for test kits and other essential commodities, stressing the need for government support.
