Yobe govt repairs all roads cut-off by floods

Yobe state government said it has repaired all the roads cut off by last year’s rains, especially in the northern part of the state, to restored  vehicular traffic.

In the Press Release signed by the Hon. Commissioner, Yobe state Ministry of Information, home affairs and culture, Abdullah Bego, as an outcome of State Executive Council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni on Wednesday, at govenrment houss, Damaturu.

He said the roads repaired by the state government include Damaturu-Buni Yadi at Gujba; Damaturu- Bayamari at Kariyari and Jumbam; Potiskum- Gashu’a road at Tarajim and Gada towns; Bayamari-Yunusari at near the main bridge; and Geidam-Bukarti at Mazagum.

During the meeting, the council reflected on the preceding year, noting it as one in which the state government was able to execute many projects and programmes that have positive impacts on the lives of the people of the state.

“These projects and programmes cut across many sectors, including healthcare, agriculture, education, road construction, empowerment.”

Also the meeting expressed confidence that many of the ongoing legacy projects of the administration will be completed and commissioned this year 2025.These challenges, he said, threaten the livelihoods of millions.

He called on partner countries to collaborate in mobilising resources to tackle these challenges and embrace innovation and technology.

“To promote a Green Economy in Africa, we must focus on integrating sustainable practices in all sectors of our economy. These investments are capital intensive and require international support from partner countries, including multinational organisations, development partners and individuals who share our vision of a sustainable, prosperous and equitable future”, he said
