The factional National Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Hon. Sunday Udeh-Okoye yesterday said momentarily left the meeting of the Board of Trustees (BoT) to avoid being attacked.

Udeh-Okoye was seen being sent out of the meeting by some people suspected to be loyalists of his rival to the office, Sen. Samuel Anyanwu.

Addressing the media after the BoT meeting, Udeh-Okoye said he left the meeting in defense of himself and to avoid being attacked.

“I wasn’t forcefully pushed out. Some people wanted to attack me and I decided to move out in defense of myself. No one pushed me out but in defense of myself, I moved out”.

He further Insisted that he remains the National Secretary of the party despite the fact that Sen. Anyanwu was the person recognized by the Amb. Umar Damagum led National Working Committee (NWC).

“Which National Secretary are you talking about, is it me or who? I am the national secretary, so may be you didn’t get what the BoT chairman said. The BoT chairman said that it is going to be resolved and a committee has been formed. He even mentioned the name of the chairman of the committee, Tanimu Turaki SAN. That was his statement.

“I am the national secretary of PDP. I have already assumed office; I have assumed duty. On the 30th of December 2024, I assumed office and it is everywhere.

When asked why he was not sitting on the hightable he said; “May be you were not there when I came in. When I came, I was seated at the high table. If you check the list of those that attended the meeting, my name is there and if you check even the list of BoT members that were invited, my name is number 46 on the list. So I was invited as a BoT member because constitutionally, I am one”.

Anyanwu and Udeh-Okoye have been locked in a controversy over who is the authentic National Secretary of the PDP, with each of them claiming to have a valid court ruling in his favour.
