As part of efforts to support dry season farming, the Senator representing Niger South Senatorial District, Senator Peter Ndalikali Jiya has commenced free distribution of about 100 water pump machines to farmers in his constituency.
This is aimed at supporting the farmers in the senatorial district to boost agricultural business which is believed to be part of wider efforts to complement the federal and state governments’ goal of achieving food security through sustainable agriculture.
The event was held in Bida town, Bida local government area of Niger state.
He urged the beneficiaries to utilize the tools and see it as an initiative that is targeted at boosting their economic growth and nation’s well-being.
Represented at the event by Timothy Jiya, he explained that the programme was initiated with a view to providing farmers with the tools needed to succeed in agricultural production.
In his remarks, Chairman of the occasion, Ndako Kpaki warned the beneficiaries against the sale of the items, adding that the working tools are good for the growth of agribusiness and not for sale.
In same vein, the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state, Barrister Suleiman Zhigun urged the people of Niger South Senatorial District and Nigerlites as a whole to continue to have faith in PDP for the growth and development of the nation.
