Jigawa signs MOU for commercial air transportation

The Jigawa state Government yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with oVerland Airlines, National Airport Management Authority (NAMA) and Moses Boutique Resources Limited in view of Commercial Flights from the Dutse Airport from monday 14thJuly 2014. Speaking to newsman yesterday after the signing of MoU, the Jigawa state commissioner for Land, Urban and regional planning, Engr. Habibu Barde, said the state government had entered into three different MoU to ensure that the maiden commercial flight of passengers from the newly constructed Dutse Airport became a reality. He explained that the first agreement was signed between Jigawa state government and Overland Airline to commence operation by next Monday fourteen July, 2014 from the Dutse International Airport to Abuja. The Commissioner added that, part of the agreement in the MOU ensures that commercial flight operations would be sustained within a period of six weeks from Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Engr. Barde maintained that, the Jigawa state government has also signed another MoU with National Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) to provide Air traffic Control services in the Airport and the agreement will last for a period of two years.

Commissioner Barde also said, the last MoU signed by the Jigawa state government, was an agreement between Moses Boutique Resources Limited and the state government to take over the ground handling services of the Airport,comprising of cleansing services,fuelling, checking of the Aeroplane and management of designated equipment in the Airport. According to him he said,jigawa state government would be partnering with the Overland Airline in order to have a stable air Transport operation in the state. While making his remarks, the Managing Director Overland Airways Mr Edward Boyo said he personally chose to fly the plane that conveyed him and his team to Dutse in order to see things for himself clearly while still in the Air.
