Pace of work on Judges’ quarters, road projects excites Wike

The FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike has expressed satisfaction with the quality and speed of work by the various contractors  particularly those (Julius Berger and CGC, who are carrying out road construction in the nation’s capital city.

Wike, who spoke yesterday during inspection of some ongoing construction sites in Lifecamp and  Katampe, also expressed excitment with  the level of work done at the Judges’ quarters for the FCT Court, the Federal High Courts and the Court of Appeal.

He however, attributed the development to the FCT Adminstration’s proper management of funds, enabling contractors to put in their best.

Also, he noted that the support and cooperation of the host communities to making sure that the work is not stopped.

His words: “I’m quite impressed with the speed of work by the various contractors, particularly those who are carrying out road construction, Julius Berger, and CGC. I believe that we are going to meet up, like they promised, by the grace of God, by May this year.

“When they see that funds are coming, they will not hesitate to work, and again, like I’ve said, due to competent contractors, with the kind of equipment you have seen, nobody will tell you a different story.”

While on the issue of compensation for owners of structures affected by the construction, the minister revealed that  the relevant authorities  of the  FCTA have commenced  payment of compensation, as the funds have been made available.

According to him: “The resettlement department has said, the one in OSEX to Wasa has been done, where we are standing now in Kado has been done.

“Then, the one at Gishiri, that one has over 500 meters, we believe before the end of the week, we would have settled that area.

“So, we are already paying the compensation, the funds have been made available.”
