From Yakubu Mustapha Minna
The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Niger State chapter has faulted what it described as insensitive, appointments of APC members as Niger State Independent Electiral Commission Chairman and seven others.
The State Vice Chairman and Zonal Chairman Niger North Senatorial District, Yahaya Ability made this known in a statement issued in Minna.
He said the appointment is unacceptable, alleging plan to marginalise and oppress other political parties in the forth coming elections.
He explained that governor Mohammed Umar Bago’s decision to appoint the former APC Chairman and other ruling party members to pilot the affairs of the Niger State Independent Electoral Commission is a clear violation of fairness and democratic principles.
Ability observed with dismay that by appointing a known APC member to oversee elections in the state, the governor is undermining public trust and creating fear among Nigerlites who wish to contest.
