Bizman remanded in ICPC custody

Date:

An FCT High court has remanded a businessman Victor Nwabueze, in custody of the Independent Corrupt Practices and other Related Offences Commission (ICPC) pending fulfillment of his bail conditions.

The ICPC had arraigned Nwabueze on June 26, on a three-count charge of forgery, impersonation and misappropriation.

It accused the 52 year-old businessman of forging a letter on behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, to seek for employment in the Nigeria Customs Service.

Ruling in the bail application, Justice Abubakar Umar, granted the accused bail in the sum of N5 million and two sureties in like sum.

Umar ordered that one of the sureties must be a civil servant of not less than grade level 10 in the federal civil service and must also present evidence that they are still in service.

He said that the sureties must be resident within the jurisdiction of the court.

The judge also ruled that the accused should deposit his international passport with the registrar of the court.

Umar, however, ordered that the accused be remanded in ICPC custody until he fulfilled all the bail conditions.

He adjourned the case to October 7 for hearing. (NAN)
