A former President of the Senate, Ken Nnamani, has denied ever meeting Sen. Elisha Abbo or discussing any matter related to a judge or justice on his behalf regarding an alleged miscarriage of justice.
Mr Nnamani made the clarification in a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja, in response to Mr Abbo’s claim that Mr Nnamani visited him at his residence to plead on behalf of a judge.
According to Mr Nnamani, Mr Abbo had made the allegations during a television interview, in which he accused the judiciary of mishandling his case and claimed to be a victim of a miscarriage of justice.
Mr Abbo further alleged that Nnamani visited him at home to intercede on behalf of a judge involved in the matter, an allegation that has since gone viral across both traditional and social media platforms.
Mr Nnamani described the claims as false, baseless, and unfounded.
“For the avoidance of doubt, I have never visited Sen. Abbo at his house or anywhere else. To this moment, I do not know where he lives,” Nnamani said.
“I have never discussed his case or any other matter pending before, or decided by, any court in Nigeria.
“The only time I met him was when he paid me a visit at my home. It was purely a social visit, during which we did not discuss his legal case or any case whatsoever.”
Nnamani recalled that during that visit, the only matter discussed was Abbo’s political career, and he advised the younger senator to avoid controversy as he navigated public life.
The former senate president expressed deep concern over the attempt to involve him in what he described as “frivolous falsehoods,” and indicated he was considering legal action over the matter.
“I urge the public to disregard Sen. Abbo’s allegations entirely.
“I never visited him to discuss any judicial matter, nor did I plead with him on behalf of any judge or justice,” he said.
“All statements made by Abbo concerning me and his legal issues are pure fabrications.
“I have maintained a sterling and distinguished career in public service, and I am committed to upholding my integrity and dedication to excellence to the end of my life.”
Mr Nnamani noted that at this stage of his life, he had no intention of being entangled in either baseless controversies or manipulations driven by false narratives.
