Akume, an absentee senator, says aspirant

A senatorial aspirant from Benue North- East on the platform of the

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Chief Mike Mku, has described Senator George Akume as an absentee lawmaker in the Senate, who has failed to adequately represent his people.

Speaking to newsmen when the West African Students Union Parliament (WASUP) conferred him with Kwame Nkrumah Exemplary Leadership Award in Abuja, Mku said Akume has done nothing within his seven and half years in office  for those who elected him adding that he was just lucky to have won the seat for two terms in office.

Mku also said that Akume has not been contributing effectively to national issues that affect the people from the zone or even issues that have direct bearing on the country.

“I tell you that Akume is just lucky to have won the seat; he has done nothing for the people from the zone.  This is a constructive criticism I am making against him; if he can prove it, let him”, Mku stated.

The zone B Senatorial aspirant also said that the  seat has been zoned to the  people of  Jemgbagh.

He explained that Tarka and Buruku  have had their fair share of the seat , “so it is the turn of  Gboko people.” He promised to sponsor bills that would have direct bearing on the lives of the people if elected in 2015.
