NNPP is dead – Ganduje declares

By Jude Opara, Abuja

The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Dr. Abdulahi Ganduje on Tuesday declared that the opposition New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) is already dying as many of the people who are currently in the party are now on their way to the ruling party.

Ganduje equally threw a dart at his age long political rival and former Presidential candidate of the NNPP, Dr. Rabiu Kwankwaso, saying he should be free to make open his overtures to return to the APC, assuring him of acceptance.

The APC boss who was speaking when some APC support groups paid him a courtesy visit at the national secretariat of the party in Abuja, recalled that while some people say they were leaving the party to form a group ahead of the 2027 general elections, many other notable politicians from other parties are joining and strengthening the ruling party.

The former governor of Kano state who was full of appreciation for the visit said he was impressed that the group was even up to date with the activities of the party.

“I am happy that you are abreast with the policies of the party, this shows that you people are true politicians. You are equally aware that while some people say they want to do coalition against us, many others are joining us.

“In the NNPP, you know them in Kano but I want to tell you that the NNPP is dead and will soon be buried. The coffin for the burial has been constructed, what is remaining is the digging of the grave and that will happen very very soon. Many people are resigning from the party including commissioners, members of the state and national assemblies are all going to join us. In fact, even the so called leader is no where and when he eventually sees himself alone, he will try to return to us and we will welcome him.

“Even those that are regrouping, we know they have failed already and nothing much will come from their gathering. When they eventually fail, they will also return to us.

“I was in Delta yesterday where I received members of the national assembly from that state into our party, even the three senators are now members of the APC.

Earlier in his address, leader of the support groups led by the Tinubu Support Group (TSG), Alhaji Tanko Yakasai said they were at the national secretariat of the APC to endorse the plans of the National Working Committee (NWC) led by Ganduje in repositioning the party to be deeply rooted in all parts of the country.

Yakasai who is also the Director General of the TSG in his address noted that under the administration of Ganduje, the APC has become so attractive that many political leaders from other parties are joining the party, including members of the various states and national assemblies.

They however appealed to the National Chairman to make it possible for them to have access to some leaders of the party so as to keep them abreast with their programmes and policies that would help the ruling party retain leadership at the centre in 2027.

The stated that given the achievements of the administration of President Bola Tinubu, there is no vacancy in Aso Rock in 2027.
