APC condemns politicization of government institutions, infrastructures

From Uche Uche, Damaturu

All Progressives Congress (APC) National Secretary, Alhaji Mai Mala Buni, has condemned the use of politics as a determinant for usage of government institutions and infrastructures which were basically constructed with public funds.

Speaking to newsmen in Damaturu, the APC scribe said,”it is unfortunate and unacceptable for government to employ selectivism through politics, in the use of such public institutions.”

He cited a situation where pilgrims from Borno and Yobe states traveling to Saudi Arabia were refused usage of the Maiduguri Airport forcing them to travel by road to Kano before taking off to the Holy Land, describing the scenario as disgusting.

He wondered why Borno state governor, Alhaji Kashim Shettima and Senator Ali Ndume were all denied the opportunity to take off from the airport while the same authorities opened the airport to Ali-Modu Sherrif just to facilitate his defection to PDP.

“This is a repeat of what happened during the Ekiti state governorship elections where APC governors were refused landing at the Akure airport,” he reminiscence.

He regretted that the PDP government is by this measures orchestrating primitive politics which does not speak well for Nigeria and the development of its democracy.

“I think government must urgently stop this dirty politics and concentrate on issues that will improve the lives of Nigerians instead of these brazen abuse of public office with impunity” he said.

Buni noted that a serious government should be concerned with the disturbing trend of insecurity, collapse of institutions and infrastructures, high level of corruption and the unacceptable level of unemployment that has enveloped the country under the PDP regime.

He said it was not surprising that politicians who failed to actualize selfish goals decided to leave APC for other parties where such selfish sentiments could be accommodated.

“The new leadership of APC made it expediently clear that in this party, national interest reigns and anybody with selfish or personal agenda should look elsewhere.

“We are happy that such politicians with personal interests have realized the commitment of APC to national agenda against personal ambitions and are leaving the party” he added.

He assured that in APC, there are no vacancies for political jobbers who do not have the interest of the people adding, “we are happy Nigerians have seen these politicians and will decide in 2015.”
