From Umar Dankano, Yola

The Adamawa state Command of the Nigerian Correctional Service has debunked a media report published by an online medium (Not peoples Daily) alleging that a female prison inmate lost her life in one of the command’s facility in the state.

Spokesman of the Command, DSC Richard James through a press statement issued in Yola, Monday, denied such claim, stressing that the online medium was being unprofessional and sensational in its reportage on the matter.

In the statement made available to journalists, the Command expressed dismay that a media platform would publish such a grave allegation without verifying the facts or reaching out to the Command for clarification.

The Command regretted that such sensational journalism undermines public trust and causes unnecessary panic among families of inmates and the general public, urging the public to disregard the said publication as “false, malicious, and an attempt to tarnish the image of the Nigerian Correctional Service.”
