NGO urges Benue Assembly, govt to expedite action on passage of disability bill

A Non Governmental Organization (NGO), Inclusive Friends Association (IFA) has urged the Benue State government and the House of Assembly to expedite action on passage, assent and domestication of the  Disability Bill into law.

Executive Director, IFA Mrs. Grace Jerry gave this advise at a one day technical review of the State Disability Bill held in collaboration with Benue state government and Joint National Association of Persons with Disabilities (JONAPWD).

The IFA ED said persons with Disabilities constitute a huge demography of over 40 million, explaining that the aim of the review is to collectively work towards strengthening the legal framework that promotes and protects the rights of Persons With Disabilities, PWD in Benue State.

“We want to ensure there are no gaps. It is more expensive to amend a law than enact a new one. This gives us a chance to sit together with government representatives, civil society, technical experts, and members of the disability community to look at the Bill closely, strengthen it, and make sure there are no gaps”.

Speaking at the 2025 General Assembly of Kaduna Catholic Archdiocese on the Gospel Response to witchcraft, the lead speaker Rev. Fr. Thomas Adamu, a priest of the Catholic Diocese of  Kafanchan and a Psychotherapist said that “the Gospel acknowledged that witchcraft exists, it is there and it poses a a lot of challenges to the church.
