The Federal Government has announced the temporary closure of the Ijora-Marine Bridge in Lagos State, from May 18, to carry out urgent repairs by 7am for 21 days.
A statement signed by the Federal Controller of Works, Lagos, Engr. (Mrs) Olukorede Kesha said that the closure will be full at some sections of the bridge and partial at other sections.
She emphasized that this critical project aims to improve road safety and enhance the driving experience of motorists.
She stated that the work involves lifting the entire bridge deck to change the faulty bearings beneath amongst other repair works, adding that this will ensure a smoother, safer roadway.
Kesha noted that the Ministry has carefully worked on diversion routes and traffic management and encouraged residents and businesses within the closure zone to plan accordingly.
It added that for safety precautions, appropriate signage and traffic control measures will be in place to guide drivers and pedestrians.
