A Development Advocate, Barrister Kashim Musa Tumsa has rewarded 29 high-achieving JAMB students who scored 300 marks and above in the recent Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
Represented by Hajiya Adama Balla, Kashim Musa Tumsa gave each student N100,000, totaling N2.9 million in cash rewards—a first-of-its-kind initiative by an individual in the state.
The event, held at the NUJ Hall Secretariat in Damaturu, Yobe State’s capital, was attended by government officials, parents, and community leaders, highlighting the importance of educational investment and inclusivity.
Tumsa noted that the event underscored Governor Mai Mala Buni’s declaration of a state of emergency on education, which has paved the way for progressive reforms.
He added that through his advocacy, the state is pushing for greater inclusivity, ensuring that every child—regardless of gender or disability—has access to quality education.
“Your admission into tertiary institutions is not just a personal triumph; it’s a testament to resilience. Disability does not mean inability, and today’s achievers prove just that,” he said.
“When a girl is educated, she transforms her family, community, and nation. No one should ever tell you that your place isn’t in the lecture hall, laboratory, or leadership table.”
