Lagos LG poll: APC sets up reconciliation committee

The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress, (APC), has set up a reconciliation committee to address grievances arising from the recently concluded party primaries.

This was announced in a statement released yesterday by the party’s spokesperson, Mogaji Oladejo.

Oladejo noted that the initiative is part of the APC’s broader strategy to mend internal divisions and build cohesion among party members.

According to him, the party has set a two-week target to resolve all disputes stemming from the primary election process and to consolidate its strength ahead of the polls.

The primaries, which produced the APC’s candidates for local council positions across the state, had triggered widespread protests and the submission of numerous petitions to the party’s appeal committee.

Dissatisfied aspirants and supporters raised concerns about the transparency and fairness of the selection process.

“The party, APC, after receiving and considering the reports of the appeal, has resolved to activate its internal mechanism for conflict resolution and reconciliation to ensure that we go into the elections as a united force,” the statement read in part.

The committee has been decentralized across senatorial districts.

In Lagos East, the reconciliation committee will be chaired by Dr Lateef Ibirogba, with Saheed Afonja, Sumbo Onitiri, and Sade Bakare serving as members.

Former Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Sarah Sosan, will lead the Lagos Central team, joined by Funso Ologunde, Adedoyin Banjo, and Adigun Olalekan.

Lagos West is split into two zones: Lagos West 1 will be headed by Otunba Bode Oyedele, with Chief Jide Damazio, Alhaji Aleshinloye, and Comfort Olalere as members.

Lagos West 2 will be chaired by Alhaji Mutiu Are, supported by Hon. Jumoke Okoya, Otunba Kehinde Adeniyi, and Adeola Rashidat.
