From Mika’il Tsoho, Dutse
Two years to the general elections in Nigeria, the presidential ambition posters of the serving Oyo state governor, Chief Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde flooded some major cities in Jigawa, including the state capital, Dutse.
It was discovered that the Oyo state governor presidential posters under the People Democratic Party (PDP) have taken over majority of roundabouts, junctions and almost all the streets of Dutse city, promoting his presidential ambitions ahead of 2027 general elections.
The posters reading, “To move Nigeria Forward 2027 His Excellency Engineer Oluwaseyi Abiodun Makinde for President of Federal Republic of Nigeria.”In a statement issued to the press yesterday in Kaduna, ANEEJ Executive Director Rev. David Ugolor, who is also a former Co-chair of the UNCAC Coalition, described the decision as a “critical win for global anti-corruption efforts.”
He emphasized that no politically exposed person (PEP) should be shielded from accountability, regardless of how distant they may seem from the original offence.
“This ruling strengthens international resolve against illicit financial flows involving politically exposed persons and affirms the UK’s commitment to the global anti-corruption framework,” Rev. Ugolor stated.
The case is particularly significant given Senator Katung’s position as a serving Nigenadequate financial oversight for personal gain.
