A coalition of youth organisations and civil society groups has called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to reappoint Dr Muheeba Farida Dankaka, OON, as Executive Chairman of the Federal Character Commission (FCC), urging that her leadership is key to sustaining critical reforms at the agency.

The appeal was made on Friday during a solidarity rally held at the FCC headquarters in Abuja, where supporters praised Dr Dankaka’s track record in promoting fairness, equity, and national cohesion.

Spokesperson of the coalition, Comrade Tijani Abdulmumin, said Dr Dankaka had transformed the Commission into a more transparent and accountable institution, earning the trust of the Nigerian public.

“Her tenure has been marked by bold reforms and a commitment to fairness. She stopped job racketeering and ensured opportunities are shared equitably,” Abdulmumin stated.

The coalition described her work as consistent with President Tinubu’s Renewed Hope agenda, noting that her leadership strengthens national unity through the enforcement of the federal character principle.

Under Dr Dankaka’s watch, the FCC introduced a Department of Monitoring and Compliance to boost oversight and curb irregularities in job allocations.

Youth leaders at the rally credited her with restoring integrity in recruitment processes and transforming the Commission into what they called “a beacon of hope” for young Nigerians.

“She shut down the system that turned government jobs into commodities for sale. That’s the kind of leadership Nigeria needs,” one of the demonstrators said.

The coalition acknowledged that Dr Dankaka had faced criticism and political attacks but commended her resilience and defence of due process.

They pointed out that she had publicly refuted false allegations, including those questioning her academic credentials, with verified documentation from Ahmadu Bello University.

The groups also highlighted improvements in the Commission’s internal structure, aesthetics, and working conditions under her leadership.

“She brought dignity back to the civil service and blocked avenues of financial mismanagement,” the coalition said.

Concluding their address, the youth coalition urged the Presidency and National Assembly to support her reappointment and resist attempts to discredit her achievements.

“Dr Dankaka is not just a public servant — she’s a reformer whose leadership must be protected,” they declared.
