As part of efforts to retain its number one position on Open Defication Free (ODF) state in Nigeria, the Jigawa state Ministry of Environment through Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) in collaboration with United Nation’s Children Fund (UNICEF) commenced orientation of 270 environmental health workers in the state.
Speaking shortly after flagging off of the training, the state commissioner for Environment and climate change, Dr Nura Kazaure said, the participants will be oriented on house to house health Inspection ( traditional Duba Gari) and advice the citizens on how to sanitize their houses to achieve hygienic environment.
The commissioner maintained that, Jigawa government already embarked on construction of latrine in schools, motor parks, markets and other public places across the state.
Dr Nura added that the arrangement of engaging over 100 casual environmental workers (J-environment) has gone far to meet the target of making a better Hygienic environment in Jigawa.
While making his remarks, the Managing Director Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) Sanitarian Adamu Sabo said, about 270 environmental workers are to benefit from the orientation.
