Izuegbu joins Gombe United

Gombe United have continued to add quality to their squad ahead of the second stanza of the Nigeria Premier League due to commence on the 27th of July.

The Savannah Scorpions have finalized the signing of former Nigeria U-20 player, Abonima Arinze Izuegbu, a central defender whose flexibility accommodates effectively the defensive midfield role too.

The former 36 Lion FC and Union Bank FC (both based in Lagos) player has also featured for Sharks FC of Porthacourt. The arrival of Abonima Arinze to Pantami Stadium, Gombe brings to eight the number of new signings by Gombe United in the mid-season.

According to the ever calm spokesman of Gombe United, Tanimu Umar, who confirmed the new development: “Gombe United have just finalized the signing of Abonima Arinze Izuegbu.”

“It’s a short term contract and we expect him to bring more value to the team.”

“He is a quality addition to the squad; he is a central defender who could equally play as a defensive midfielder. This brings to eight the number of new signing in the mid-season, as we resolved to strengthen the team towards the second stanza of the 2013/14 NPFL season,” Tanimu concluded.
