In the spirit of peaceful co- existence the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) Gospel church, Tudun Nupawa, Kaduna-South local government area, yesterday donated assorted food stuffs for Iftar to Muslims within its domain, as part of efforts to foster religious co-existence and as a way of associating with them in the spirit of the holy month of the Ramadan.
The beneficiaries, numbering 150, comprising of persons from the Panteka union and the Tudun Nupawa communities which host the church, received such items as rice, beans, maize, Indomie and eggs among others.
The senior pastor of the church, Reverend Yunusa S. Nmadu, while shielding light on the motive behind the donation, said, “The gesture by the church to provide food items to members of the host community during Ramadan is to demonstrate the Biblical injunction that we should love our neighbours as ourselves.” Nmadu also commended the reformation in the community, saying that “Tudun-Wada/Tudun-Nupawa, which used to be in the news for the wrong reasons, has since begun on a new slate.
Representative of Governor Mukhtar Ramalan Yero, Dr. Yari Everton, who is the state Commissioner of Special Duties, further harped on peaceful co-existence among all, just as he called on the good people of Kaduna State to live in peace and be each other’s brother and keeper. He further urged all to shun all forms of social vices and pray for the peace and stability of the country and Kaduna state in particular, while assuring of government’s commitment to provide dividends of democracy to the people of the state without any form of discrimination.
