The Village Head of Sauka community in Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Mallam Yusuf Magaji, has commended the former Chairman of AMAC, Hon. Abdullahi Adamu Candido for providing a borehole in the community, even as he urged the present Chairman of the Area Council, Hon. Christopher Zakka Maikalangu to deem it fit to carry out people’s oriented projects in the area.
He decried that the present administration of AMAC had neglected Sauka community in terms of basic amenities.
Magaji while speaking to Peoples Daily correspondent on Saturday in the community, called on Maikalangu to drill more boreholes to boost portable drinking water in the area.
He also charged the Chairman to repair the dilapidated roads in the community for the sake of commuters plying the roads, as well as renovate the primary school in the area.
He also appealed to AMAC boss to join hands with the FCT Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB) as well as the Secondary Education Board (SEB) to build both junior and senior secondary schools in the community to enable the children have access to education there.
He further pleaded with the Chairman to partner with the FCT Administration to construct a standard hospital in the community, in order to prevent the residents from travelling out neighboring communities to seek for medical treatment.
He equally urged Maikalangu to erect a police station in Sauka to arrest pending security challenges facing the people in the area.
He however, commended the men of the Vigilante Group of Nigeria (VGN) for their efforts in fighting crimes in the community, and asked the AMAC Chairman to help the vigilantes with the patrol vehicles and other security gadgets.
Furthermore, the community leader solicited the co-operation of the residents to continue to support the policies of the government of AMAC at all times.
He however, appealed to the FCT Minister, Barr. Nyesom Wike not to demolish Sauka community, saying that Sauka was one of the ancient communities in the FCT.
