In Its relentless efforts to fighting crime, the Adamawa State Police Command has arrested two suspects linked to an attempt to kidnap a resident in Song local government area of the state.
Spokesman of the Command, SP Suleiman Nguroje disclosed the hint through a press release issued in Yola, weekend, stressing that, the suspects allegedly sent threats to their potential victim through mobile phone calls asking him to provide ransom or be abducted.
Nguroje explained that, the swift action taken by anti-kidnapping operatives after receiving complaint from the victim, Mallam Hassan Musa of same address foiled the kidnapping move and led to the subsequent apprehension of the two suspects, who are currently helping police in their investigation.
“Following a complaint received from one Hassan Musa Dabutu of Song LGA, who reported receiving threatening calls from an unknown subscriber, that they were coming to kidnap him unless he pays a certain amount of money.
“The complainant also raised concern that his family had earlier suffered a series of kidnappings, where a total sum of twenty million naira (₦20,000,000.00) was paid as ransom to secure the release of abducted family members.
“On the strength of that, the Command ‘s Commissioner of Police,CP Dankombo Morris, directed operatives from the State Intelligence Department (SID) to commence investigation.
“Luckily, a 15-year-old suspect, Abdulraman Musa of Nguru, and Adamu Orte, a 60-year-old man from Machina, Yobe State, were arrested”.
