I will embark on achievable projects, Benue guber aspirant pledges

Former Speaker of Benue House of Assembly and a strong contender for the governorship position in the state in the 2015 gubernatorial election, Terse men Tarzoor, has declared that if elected, he would embark on those projects that are achievable and impact positively on the lives of the people.

The aspirant made the declaration at the weekend while unveiling his 5-Point Agenda for the state during an interaction with Benue Professionals.

Tarzoor told the group that his administration would focus attention on improving the educational sector, health care, embark on pension reforms, industrialize the agricultural sector and revamp the tourism sector.

“We do not want to bite more than we can chew; we do not want to tell you that we will provide a seaport in Makurdi. We will only promise those things that can be achievable and for which we can be held accountable. That is why we have chosen five sectors of critical engagement, five sectors of emergency with an addendum of two, not that the two are not important, they are.

“But we believe that with the situation on ground now, we need to go back to our root and ensure that the crude oil that God has given us is tapped and used; that crude oil that we are endowed with is agriculture, until we go back to the farms, we will make no progress. The economic challenges require that we look inward to pay salaries” he enthused.

President of Guild of Benue Professionals, Terlumun Ikya, declared that the group is honoring the aspirant because of his antecedents in Benue state.

The group expressed confidence that the program outlined by the aspirant, if pursued with vigor and determination, will definitely improve on the fortunes of the state even as they urged him to take the issue of security as topmost priority.

“Of course, like every other person, we want to see security improved in the state especially with the incessant Fulani invasions of our communities. Most of the areas are known for growing sesame seeds in Nigeria. The government  have been talking a lot about trying to improve our productivity in sesame because Nigeria is about the 7th largest producer, but I assure you that now that this season has started, there is going to be a short fall because a lot of farmers have left their villages. So, we also call on government to do a lot more in the area security”, he said.
