Ahead of the 2027 general elections, a group under the aegis of the Northern Minorities 4 Tinubu has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of President Bola Tinubu.

The group also said that in the coming weeks, two million northerners, from all the 19 northern states, will converge on Abuja to show their unflinching support for President Tinubu, whom they believe truly understands the dynamics of power as it concerns nation building.

Addressing newsmen on Sunday, Convener of the group, Chief Jacob Edi said after evaluating the political situation of the country, they have decided to add their voice to the growing number of group and individuals rooting for President Tinubu to retain his seat as the president of the Nigeria.

Edi further revealed that his group firmly believes that under the administration of President Tinubu, Nigeria is finally on the right path; adding that the only reasonable option for the country is to support him to continue with his good works.

“Our mission is clear: to add our voice to the growing, unstoppable wave of support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu. What you see across the country today is not a manufactured hype.
It is organic. It is conviction. Nigerians believe and, rightly so, that under Tinubu, this nation is finally on the right path”.

According to him, what is happening today is a testament that the government is doing well and that is why even governors and leaders from opposition political parties are openly pledging their support for the President.

“Since 1999, we have never seen anything like this. Leaders from opposition parties are openly pledging support for a sitting president. The governors of Plateau, Barrister Caleb Mutfwang, (PDP), Anambra, Charles Chukwuma Soludo, (APGA), Osun, Ademola Adeleke, (PDP) and Abia, Dr. Alex Otti, (LP) have all boldly announced their support. That is not politics as usual. That is proof of leadership that cuts across divides”.

However, the Northern group took a swipe at some of those it accused of spreading the anti-Tinubu sentiments in the North, describing such as self-serving politicians who always pretend to be fighting for the masses.

“But while genuine support is rising, a handful of self-serving elites are pushing a poisonous lie.. that Tinubu is anti-North. Nothing can be farther from the truth. Let us be blunt: this is not about truth, it is about power. Their oligarchical instinct to dominate is at play. They shout the loudest, but they do not represent us. We, the northern minorities, the true majority of the North, reject their falsehood.

“Look at the facts. How can anyone, in good conscience, say Tinubu is anti-North? The Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the Minister of Defence, the National Security Adviser, the Chief of Defence Staff, the GMD of NNPCL, the MD/CEO of Ajaokuta Steel Company, the very cerebral Minister of information and National Orientation are all northerners. Or is there any other north unknown to we, the minorities of northern Nigeria?

“Let us not forget the creation of the North-West and North-Central Development Commissions which came into existence by the vision of one man, to tackle our region’s unique challenges and begin the narrative of equitable allocation of resources.
And for the first time in history, an indigene of the FCT sits at the Federal Executive Council”.

The Convener said while it is true that Nigerians are feeling the pain of reforms, it should be understood that it’s like the labour pains, which are temporary, necessary, and leading to something greater… a bundle of joy.

The Northern Minorities 4 Tinubu also revealed that their next step is to move across the 19 northern states to inaugurate chapters, mobilize and build momentum for Tinubu’s re-election.
