Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN endorses Sukubo's re-election bid
  • Laud composition of committees for forthcoming national elective congress .

The Forum of State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), one of the most influential leadership organs of the Council, has thrown its weight behind the re-election bid of incumbent President Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe Sukubo for a fresh four-year term.

This endorsement comes ahead of the NYCN’s National Elective Congress, scheduled for September this year, where new national executives will be elected.

The Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN, drawn from the 36 States of the Federation including FCT Abuja in a communiqué issued at the end of their meeting in Ibadan, Oyo State Thursday morning, said their endorsement of Amb. Sukubo’s re-election bid is based on his impressive pedigree, capacity, and unwavering commitment to youth development and empowerment.

They acknowledged Sukubo’s visionary and exceptional leadership, as well as his tireless efforts in promoting the interests of Nigerian youth.

In the communique signed by; Amb. Abdulsalam Abdulquadri Olusegun, Chairman of Chairmen’s Forum of NYCN/ Chairman of Oyo State Chapter,

Comrade Shamsu Ibrahim Shamo, Secretary of Chairmen’s Forum of NYCN/Chairman Katsina State Chapter and Comrade Kokoriko Raphael PRO of Chairmen’s Forum of NYCN/Chairman Bayelsa State Chapter, the State Youth Leaders noted that inclusivity, transparency, accountability, and participatory governance are the hallmarks of Sukubo’s style of leadership.

They pledged to mobilize massive support across the 36 states of the Federation, including the FCT, to secure a resounding electoral victory for Amb. Sukubo to enable him consolidate and sustain his laudable achievements in youth development, national cohesion, and nation-building.

The Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN also clarified that their endorsement of Sukubo does not stop anyone with ambition from any part of the country from contesting for the presidency of the National Youth Council.

They said the democratic process of NYCN remains open to all eligible aspirants.

The endorsement of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe by the Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN adds significant weight to his re-election bid, underscoring his leadership qualities and commitment to youth development.

The Forum of State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria also threw its weight behind the recent amendment of its Constitution, which was adopted and ratified at its annual National Congress in Port Harcourt.

The Youth Leaders stated that the amendment was designed to fortify the structural framework of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, enhance its operational efficacy, and promote the holistic development and empowerment of Nigerian youth, taking into cognizance contemporary issues affecting young people.

The Forum emphasized the need for adherence to the amended Constitution, which it said serves as the bedrock of NYCN governance and operations.

The State Chairmen of NYCN, who pledged to take the lead in implementing the amended Constitution in their respective states, called on all members of the Youth Council, including affiliated voluntary youth organizations, to familiarize themselves with the amended Constitution and work assiduously towards its implementation.

The Forum of State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria also lauded the report of the Affiliation and Revalidation Committee of NYCN which was recently adopted and ratified by its annual national congress in Port Harcourt wherein it validated 83 Voluntary Youth Organizations out of 104 as eligible members of the National Youth Council of Nigeria.
It called on the affiliated voluntary youth organizations that were revalidated to work collaboratively with NYCN under the leadership of Amb. Sukubo Sara-Igbe to achieve common goals and objectives.

The Chairmen’s Forum of National Youth Council of Nigeria further pledged to support the affiliated youth organizations in enhancing their capacity and effectiveness with a view to promoting youth development and empowerment.

The Forum of State Chairmen of the National Youth Council of Nigeria similarly applauded the composition of committees by its National Management Committee, comprising individuals with integrity, credibility, impartiality, and an incorruptible track record, to plan and conduct elections into the National Executive Council of NYCN.

The Forum expressed confidence that the Congress Planning Committee and National Electoral Committee, with membership drawn from the six geopolitical zones of the country, would plan and conduct a free, fair, and credible elective national congress whose outcome would be widely acceptable.

The Forum of State Chairmen of NYCN urge all Organs of Leadership of the National Youth Council including, the National Management Committee, National Executive Council, Board of Trustee, Advisory Council, etc to work collaboratively to promote Youth development and empowerment thereby harnessing their collective potentials to drive National Development.
