Gov Yusuf empowers 5,380 youths with N807m startup grant

Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf of Kano state has launched the disbursement of the sum of N807,000,000 to 5,380 youths as a startup grant to run small scale businesses.
The governor disclosed this at the launch ceremony of the programme, held at the government house in Kano on Tuesday.
The governor explained that each of the 5,380 youth from 345 Kwankwasiyya and Abba Gida-Gida support associations would get N150,000.
He said the beneficiaries are bonafide members of Kwankwasiyya political movement who supported his government since during election campaign but did not benefit with anything.
“You have us maximum support during our campaigns. You have been supporting us since and we are aware that you have not benefited with anything in our government.
“ So, we decided to offer this gesture to you. This money is for you to start up businesses as you have already submitted the businesses of your choice.
“We will continue to support our youth for the overall development of our state,” the governor assured.
Governor Yusuf added that the programme would continue until 2027, disclosing that there are several youth-oriented programmes introduced by his government that are yet to be unveiled.
“I’m aware that in 2023 you played significant role in my elections as Governor, and you are aware that I have not forgotten you, that is why the scheme is coming not at a better time than now”.
Governor Yusuf, said that his aim in Government is making youths as his major priorities to improve their livelihood as the main mirror of the society.
He mocked the opposition APC in the state that the ruling NNPP is more youth-friendly, challenging the party to gather huge crowd of youths in its event.
“I challenge critics, more specifically the opposition to gathe youths of your caliber in Kano. I know you know they can’t because they don’t even believe in you and your progresses”.
