Abaji monarch assures support for FHIS enrollment

The Ona of Abaji, and Chairman of the FCT council of traditional rulers, His Royal Highness (HRH) Alhaji Adamu Baba Yunusa, has declared his support for the move by the FCT Health Insurance Scheme (FHIS) to sensitize his subjects on the benefits of the Scheme.
He assured his support while receiving a delegation of the FHIS led by its Ag. Director, Dr. Salamatu Belgore, who was on a condolence visit to the monarch, who lost his wife last weekend.
The Ona stressed the need to increase more awareness on the benefits of health insurance enrollment, particularly at the grassroots level and called on his District Heads popularly known as “Hakimai” to educate their subjects on the development.
He also applauded the performance of the FHIS Ag. Director, Dr. Salamatu Belgore in promoting health care delivery and improving the Scheme.
Earlier, the Ag. Director, Dr. Salamatu Belgore extended FHIS’ condolence to the Ona of Abaji and prayed Aljannat Firdausi to the final abode of late Hajiya Hadiza Adamu Baba Yunusa.
Dr. Belgore appealed for Ona’s support to sensitise his subjects on the benefits attached with FCT Health Insurance Scheme adding that FHIS Enrollment, prevent financial hardship.
She explained that the FHIS is working immensely to increase numbers of enrollees both in formal and informal sectors aimed at increasing access to quality and affordable health care delivery for FCT Citizens as directed by the Mandate Secretary, Health Services and Environmental Secretariat, Dr Adedolapo Fasawe and the Permanent Secretary in the Secretariat, Dr. Baba Gana Adam.
“The mandate of Dr. Fasawe and Dr. Babagana is to enhance health outcomes by improving healthcare services and reducing maternal and infant mortality, and to prioritize environmental sustainability by implementing initiatives for cleaner energy and public health”, she said.
Similarly the FHIS together with the Focal person for FCT traditional and religious leaders also visited the Local Government Education Authority (LEA) secretariat and the Science Primary School Abaji, where the enrollment of LEA teachers is taking place.
The Headmaster of Science Primary School Abaji, Alhaji Salihu Jibrin assured his commitment to mobilise Primary teachers across Abaji Area Council to key into the FHIS.
